The Wildlife Trusts

The vision of banker and naturalist Charles Rothschild, The Wildlife Trusts started life in 1912 as the Society for the Promotion of Nature Reserves with the aim of doing just that. A list of 284 sites worthy of protection was drawn up and, over 100 years on, the charity now looks after more than 2,300 nature reserves across the UK and is a prominent and campaigning voice in wildlife issues.
