Formed as the Ex-Servicemen's Welfare Society following the First World War – and as the effect of shell shock became more widely known – Combat Stress celebrates its centenary in 2019 with much of its recent work focused on mental health support for veterans of conflicts such as Afghanistan and Iraq.
